After more than 25 years at our Belmont Street premises, the JN Sutherland office has relocated across the road to MacFarlane House, at Level 1, 37–41 Belmont Street, Sutherland. The move brings us into a space better suited to support the scale of the Sutherland team’s practice and the people who bring it to life each day.
This move reflects our commitment to evolve with purpose, ensuring that the environments we create for our team members match the high standards we deliver for our clients.

From Early Foundations to Steady Expansion
JN’s roots trace back to our very first premises in 1970, a modest office that reflected our beginnings as a small family practice specialising in structural engineering. As our services broadened, so too did our footprint. Each relocation for our flagship office has marked a stage in our evolution: from those early rooms to a larger space to accommodate new disciplines, and finally to Belmont Street, which became our base for more than two decades.
Throughout JN’s journey, one constant has been the ability to adapt — something that sits at the very heart of our ethos: Responsive Engineering.
Moving Forward Together
The new office space was designed by Simon Tonks of Lead Architects in collaboration with Greg Chambers. None of this would have been possible without the incredible work of Greg Chambers, Georgia Mullally & Karla Jones, who spent 18 months planning, designing, and coordinating every detail of the project.
The relocation was carefully coordinated by the team whose dedication ensured a seamless transition. On moving day, staff members pitched in to relocate smaller items, while removalists handled the heavy lifting: a signal that teamwork is as much a part of our culture as it is our projects. A huge thanks goes to everyone who made the move possible, from those who managed the logistics to those who rolled up their sleeves on the day.
