Melody House

The breathtaking Melody House in Mittagong, NSW combines mid-century modernism with light-filled spaces that take in the Southern Highland’s stunning vistas.

The existing residence was transformed by Cadence & Co into a timeless family home that balances open spaces with the needs of a musical family. The family’s passion for music was central to the brief, including the requirement for acoustic boards on the living room ceiling.

Inviting the outdoors in is central to life in Melody House, with vast picture windows and impressive outdoor structures including flagstone structures and an expansive verandah.

JN was engaged by Cadence and Co in the early design stage of Melody House and carried through to the construction phase with multiple small challenges to meet the design brief while working with existing structural elements of the original house.

The design included a broad range of structural elements such as steel beams to allow for large glazing and certain design features, cantilevered concrete slabs, retaining walls, architecturally-designed balustrading and more intricate details throughout the build.

JN enjoyed working with both the design team and construction team at Cadence and Co to deliver a beautiful house that we hope the clients will enjoy.
