You will be given the opportunity to lead our very capable and friendly Sutherland Mechanical team.

You will be involved in and manage all aspects of concept and detailed Mechanical design and documentation on a diverse range of projects, whilst taking responsibility for your projects and your team.

Reporting to the Building Services Manager you will lead detailed mechanical building services design and documentation on a diverse range of projects.

As the Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Attending client and stakeholder design meetings
  • Managing key projects and coordinating both mechanical and MEP design delivery
  • Leading tenders and proposals
  • Obtaining and preparing detailed project plans, including budgets, time forecasts and resource planning
  • The procurement of new projects for the Mechanical and wider JN team
  • Building key client relationships
  • Growing and developing a mechanical design team

Your experience will include:

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience working within the Building Services industry
  • Strong understanding of Chilled Water, Condenser Water, water reticulation, VRF/VRV, DX/heat pump systems, Heat Recovery Systems, air reticulation and delivery, etc
  • Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards and National Construction Code
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Strong understanding and experience in applying and implementing HVAC standards such as AS1668.1, AS1668.2, AS4254, AS3666, AS1682, AS5149 and other standards relevant to HVAC;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate information of a complex nature both verbally and in writing with all stakeholders across disciplines including colleagues and clients
  • A personable work approach, and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Greenstar or NatHERS accreditation or proven ongoing commitment to innovative sustainability measures would be beneficial but is not required.

We enjoy monthly Accrued Days Off (ADO's), and as voted by the JN Team, we work in the office Monday, Thursday and Friday with flexibility to work from home on Tuesday and Wednesday.
