Woollamia, NSW

 

During the upgrade to the Trinity Grammar Environmental and Field Studies Centre, JN was invited to provide Structural Engineering design. The facility, nestled in Woollamia, NSW, consists of a general-purpose hall and kitchen, and separate classrooms and laboratories. Also included is accommodation for pupils, teachers and staff, as well as other amenities.

The design was an elegant blend of modern materials and timber that is sympathetic to the centre’s surrounding wetlands environs. A particular focus on architectural aesthetics was an important requirement for the high traffic areas, such as the main hall. The structural detailing was carefully reviewed and implemented to ensure the architectural intent was maintained throughout the project.
