Working with the Woolworths Project Management team, JN provided the Civil Engineering design and documentation for this new Woolworths Shopping Centre, located in the Shoalhaven Council district.
This commercial complex houses Woolworths, BWS and a café,
with further space for additional stores. For the duration of the planning and
design, our team kept this opportunity in mind as they designed a car park of
over 270 spaces, with consideration not only for the movement of vehicles, but also
walkways and crossings for pedestrians and a concrete loading bay.
Overall, the design included the carpark, stormwater drainage, bulk earthworks and road design. To allow for safe access for the new commercial complex, our civil engineers worked on a design to widen the Princes Highway and add a slip lane and accompanying roundabout on Cambewarra Road to manage traffic flow.
Our team not only delivered practical designs, but
problem-solving innovations. This is particularly apparent in our solution for contamination
management of waste located on the site. Our engineers developed a plan to
house the waste onsite by containing it within tagged waterproof membranes.
These membranes were then buried deep beneath the site, covered with sturdy
geogrids. This solution prevented waste from going to landfill, saved on
movement of heavy vehicles transporting the materials offsite and provided a
huge cost saving that ensured the final project was well within budget.
