JN appoints new Managing Director

A New Era for JN: Announcing our New Managing Director

In the fast-evolving field of engineering, maintaining a strong and dynamic leadership team is crucial for industry success. That’s why JN is proud to announce the appointment of Greg Chambers as incumbent Managing Director, replacing Mark Molloy, who has stepped down from long-tenured leadership but will remain with JN in structural engineering and project delivery capacities. This move marks a new era for JN as we continue to strive for excellence and innovation in the Australian engineering industry.

Greg’s appointment as the new Managing Director of JN is an exciting milestone in our company’s journey. With his extensive experience, innovative mindset and continuing dedication to nurturing our company culture, Greg was “the obvious choice to lead JN into the future”, says Mark.

Succession planning has played a crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition of leadership, allowing us to preserve our operational efficiency and commercial success. The Managing Director succession plan was initiated three years ago, with our leadership team working diligently during that time to ensure an efficient transition. Mark identifies the importance of “leadership succession as vital to the success of any business” and worked closely with Greg to achieve a seamless handover.

“Succession planning has played a crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition of leadership, allowing us to preserve our operational efficiency and commercial success.”

Greg Chambers brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of engineering. With 24 years in the industry, the last 18 being with JN, Greg has played a pivotal role in our company’s growth. When he joined JN, we were primarily a structural and civil engineering firm. On joining the company, Greg spearheaded the opportunity to leverage JN’s structural and civil expertise and commercial success to expand the business, establishing and leading the Building Services division. Over the years, he has nurtured strong client relationships and built Building Services into a major portion of JN’s business.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a dynamic and energetic leadership team, JN has appointed Chris Low as our new Building Services Manager. Chris joined JN in 2018 and has already made significant contributions to the design, project management and delivery of major projects across the United States and Australia. His innovative thinking and commitment to excellence align perfectly with JN’s values.

As an invited Fellow of Engineers Australia, Greg Chambers access to industry thinking allows him to stay up to date on the latest market trends and opportunities for improvement reform in engineering practice. In his vision for JN engineering services and the broader industry, Greg wants to prioritise the development of strategies to respond to the labour shortage within the Australian engineering industry while demand for skilled employees remains high.

Greg supports the necessity for collaboration between government, industry organisations and employers to promote greater and more diverse interest in pursuing careers in the engineering discipline. These measures include fostering earlier education in STEM subjects, establishing internships, job shadowing/work experience initiatives and mentoring programs to cultivate interest among a broader range of individuals, including a greater representation of women in engineering jobs.

Greg also identified the value of hiring and sponsoring overseas talent to bring new skill sets, perspectives and background into JN engineering services, supporting the importance of “acting collaboratively in thinking differently”. JN remains a 100% Australian owned and staffed company. This approach ensures the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative engineering services while supporting the local economy.

“In his vision for JN’s future and the broader profession, Greg Chambers wants to prioritise the development of strategies to respond to the labour shortage within the Australian engineering industry while demand for skilled employees remains high.”
